Competitions Fun, Challenging & Rewarding | Racing and competition are important parts of the speed skating experience. After all, the sport is about speed! To compete successfully doesn't always mean being the first to cross the finish line. It also means achieving your personal best and developing the FUNdamental skills of speed skating along the way. Speed Skating “competitions” are a mix of fun, inter-club meets — focused on skill development within a team environment — and competitions that will better prepare skaters to compete at a higher level. So don’t be surprised if you see barrel-racing or counter-clockwise skating, along with traditional races, at some of our meets. Our goal is to offer a sport that is fun, challenging and rewarding for athletes of all ages and abilities. Questions about Competitions can be directed to our Competition Coordinator at competitions.mjspeedskating@gmail.com 2025-2026 Competition Event List October 18-19: Prairie Opener Short Track Meet, Martensville, SK November 1-2: Regina Short Track Meet, Doug Wickenheiser Arena, Regina, SK December 6: Melville Short Track Meet, Horizon Credit Union Centre, Melville, SK January 3-4, 2026: John Sands Long Track Meet, Saskatoon, SK January 25, 2026 : Regina Long Track Mini-Meet February 6-8, 2026: Canadian Youth Long Track Championships, Calgary, AB February 28-March 1, 2026: RU Fast Short Track Meet, Calgary, AB March 7, 2026: Prince Albert Short Track Meet March 14-15, 2026 (Tentative): Fish Bowl Short Track Meet, Barkman Arena, Caronport, SK March 27-28, 2025: Canadian Youth Short Track West Championships, Winnipeg, MB |
